Where do I go Now? What am I going to do with my life? Why do I feel this way?
Are you living a life you love?
Do you set out and do what you want to do?
Do you want to change something - but unsure of exactly what that is?
It’s okay, there is an easy way to get back on track. All you need is some time to invest in yourself. Taking time to really consider where you are right now and where do you want to be.
Often people really dislike the idea of setting goals, it's all too much connected with "work". But we are not talking about Key Performance Indicators or performance reviews. We are considering Your Life, Your Passions, Your Love, Your Health.
I always suggest that goals are not set in stone ... they are set in Jelly - so they have some movement.
Why set goals in life?
Because it’s like getting into a taxi and when the driver asks “where to luv?” you reply with “I don’t know, just drive !”
If you don’t know where you’re going, you may find your whole trip to be mighty expensive and may not end up where you want to go.
But What if I don’t know where I want to go in the first Place??
Great - you have a goal... to find out ! Start with the big picture get those vague idea. Start to consider what you love to do, What you enjoy, what you want and what you don't want, by writing a list or just brainstorming these questions - you may begin to get a clearer picture of exactly what you want.
It’s all about flexibility, patience... and a learn more about who you are (know thyself).
This is what attracted me to the field of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).
An important part of this type of modality whether it’s a training or working with some one one on one for an issue they may have. When you are doing something for a specific purpose it’s a great idea to set some goals together (whether you are coaching someone, or being coached; in a training or even in the area of your relationship, family, spirituality, and personal development it can be effective to set some goals, SMART Goals).
NLP add a different perspective on this, taking into consideration the power of the unconscious mind. Want to know more?
The unconscious mind is a mysterious beast
There are many theories and arguments about where it is and what it does.
It's about working together with your unconscious mind. Think about a horse and a rider, the rider is your conscious mind and is in control of the reins, the unconscious mind is like the horse, it has the power and speed to get you in which ever direction you (the rider) choose.
Sometimes without knowing it - we tend to steer the horse into into the swamp and struggling through the quagmire (with our own self talk.. "I don't want to go over there", "I hope he doesn't leave me", "I Know this is going to be hard and a real problem") Yet we see horses and riders out on the level grassy fields, jumping over rocks (hurdles) effortlessly or in a full gallop - enjoying the adreline of the ride.
You are the rider, You are on that horse - You are already directing your horse around.
So where are you now?
Is it time to change direction?
My experience with working with so many unconscious minds, through hypnosis, NLP and time line therapy, is that it’s extremely powerful and if you have a good relationship with your own unconscious mind, you can make life happen the way you want it.
With some other forms of therapy you may spend months feeling like you’re going round and round in circles and not really accomplishing what it is that you set out to do in the first place.
Some clients goals is simply to find out or decide on a goal ! (that’s a great goal)
When people say these tools are life tools…. I get exactly where they are coming from, the beauty of NLP techniques is that you can choose to use it in so many ways – your possibilities are infinite.
