It's funny talking to people about NLP, some think its a political party, other believe it's some sort of religious cult and it really doesn't help when you expand on the abbreviation and tell them it's actually Neuro Linguistic Programming !
While you know these tools are great for your own personal development remember utilise what you know in your business.
Rapport, one of the first techniques we learn in NLP based on the concept of "people like people who are like themselves". It's actually a very natural phenomenen that can be used with more purpose. Building trust betwenn you and your client, assisting them to feel comfortable, allowing you to assist them in whatever business you do.
Rapport is all about matching, mirroring and cross over mirroring. Apart from listening carefully to peoples predicates (hint hint... listen for the first minute for their predicates (VAKOG) and then just relax and focus back on your client). Using their unique words, watching their body language and muscle movements, tonus, skin colour, remember to use your sensory acuity to ensure that your message is going across and if it's not... change the way in which you communicate (NLP presupositions - the meaning of communication is the response you get).
Remember to take the opportunity to spend some time focusing on their eye patterns. (again do it for just a couple of minutes while keeping your focus on the conversation - I promise you can do 2 things at once !)
Meta Model allows you to gain more detail and depth to what your clients needs are, especially when they generalise, distort or delete important information. A fabulous set of questions which will provide you with the source of their thinking, discover what the real issue is (but don't be a meta monster...) use your questions purposefully - focus on the main predicates (by listening to their accents, mumbles, body language).
There are a multitude of ways in which you can use these techniques, we welcome all NLP practitioners or Master Practitioners who would like the opportunity to practise the techniques; learn from other peoples experience in a pratical and supervised environment. Fine tune your own skills and knowledge. Master the tools.
Register your interest and come along.
